Dryad's Day

It has been some time since my brother and I left the village in order to seek out the destiny that we know is waiting out there for us, somewhere. Only a few weeks, truly, but it seems like its been a lot longer than that...

Aura paused to look over what she had written thus far, a thoughtful expression on her young face. Only recent had she found the time, as well as a spot, to sit and let her thoughts flow freely, writing utensil in hand.

Kirono and I went our separate ways earlier on. Him being of clerical nature, and myself... well... he said it would be for the best; I could only agree, but made him promise that we'd see each other again, sometime, and I didn't mean in the after-life, either. He told me that I'd be okay by myself, and that I'd be sure to find others who would help, if I ever got into trouble. I have to keep my chin up... the only way I could be defeated is if I stopped fighting. And I'll never stop fighting, that's for sure...

She ceased writing once again, looking up from her scrawlings to peer out over the calm waters in front of her. It was times like this when she felt the most like herself.

Calm...

Peaceful...

Serene...

Brushing the hair out of her eyes, she returned her attention to the writing in her lap, chiding herself on how easy it seemed to be for her to become lost in her own little world.

I have yet to stray very far from the city known as 'Truce'...some might call it a hometown of sorts, and I guess I feel comfortable there, as well, but I really get a charge out of exploring. I just need to remind myself that, unknown or otherwise, the possibility for danger is always there... and if I let my guard down for even a mere second... but I won't worry about that for right now. I've also met a good few people, as well. Some are nice, some are rather cruel-minded, and others... well, I'm not sure what to think of them. However, I never stopped to think about what they may or may not have thought about me, either. But...

I can't seem to repress the need to actually 'belong' somewhere... Kirono told me the story of how he simply 'found' me near his home one morning, several times. Come to think of it, it is rather depressing to think about... not knowing where you came from... or what purpose you're supposed to serve in life. I shouldn't worry so much, I guess; just take it one step at a time, and ultimately see for myself...

Having finished her writing for this session, she closed the diary and laid it aside, stifling a yawn that almost instantly came to her mouth. It was late in the evening, of who-knows-what day; she still had yet to find a calendar system anywhere. Sometime later, perhaps.

Nestling down inside her tent, she breathed a quiet sigh of semi-contentment before closing her eyes and letting the blissful sleep take her. At least, for this night...
