Luna's Day
As the sun began to fall along with it went the daylight, night drew
down over the gentle sky. The wind was the only sound for miles around, and
the only other things that could be heard were low howls of things which
came when day fled and night overcame everything.
"Tisha, hurry up!" Malon whispered and began climbing a small wooden fence.
Mortisha pulled herself up with slight hesitation and grunted as she did so, "Malon, I dont care if our life depends on getting away, I dont know how much more I can put up with."
She peered down at Mortisha with an uneasy gaze and shook her head, she knew that Tisha was kidding but this was no time for jokes. Mortisha looked off to the side, avoiding her sisters awkward gaze, not wanting to look through her lavender eyes and see sorrow or tragedy. She looked back up and realized she had finished climbing the fence, she jumped over the top and waited on the other side for Tisha.
This night was earily cold and quiet, until Malon heard something. At first she thought it was just something in the back of her mind, something from the days of restrain, but after a while she noticed a worried look on Mortishas face as she finished climbing as well. Malon ducked down behind the fence and whispered softly,"Tisha.... Do you hear?."
Mortisha nodded and frowned as tears began to roll from her eyes. She looked into Mortisha's golden-green eyes and frowned back, "Lets go."
They stood after a while and peered around them, nothing but endless green grass could be seen, and off to the right a clear lake. She walked hesitantly into the field, looking around every now and then, making sure Tisha was still behind her. Suddenly, out of the cold silent night she heard, "HEY!! You two there! Halt!!!" and turned to her sister, heart beating fast, eyes watering.
Mortisha began to run through the field and Malon grabbed her by the arm, The was the lake. She looked at Tisha and nodded silently, they both began running swiftly and silently, trying not to be seen. All of a sudden she heard Mortisha cry out in pain. As she turned to see what had happened she saw part of an arrow was sticking partially into Tisha's arm.
She looked at Mortisha and put her hand on the arrow, as she pulled it from her dear sisters arm she shivered and her sister cried out. Malon suddenly realized she wouldnt ever want to do that again as she ripped a piece of cloth from her gown and tied it over the wound.
They started for the lake again. As soon as they reached the lake they heard voices, closer now and very angry she supposed, in spite of this all she thought of laughing but didnt. She grabbed hold of Tisha and hugged her tight, she grabbed the end of her gown and ripped a long piece which trailed in a slant up her leg. Mortisha did this also and when they finished they tied it around each of their waists and than together. Even closer the voices were heard and now she thought she felt a hand grip the back of her neck, she screamed and leaped into the lake, her sister going with her to possible safety.
