Bearing its long and inconvenient name with pride, Honey, I Shrunk the PCs is a good training ground for budding adventurers. Dedicated to upholding the values of a countless employees, a lazy slob, and movies from the early 90's, this zone is sure to test one's mettle. Explorers seeking this adventure should seek out Apple Kid in Mongrelia.
History
290 - A black ant queen flies around in Mongrelia until she finds a secure patch of dirt to start her colony.
295 - Queen Liza's colony grows strong enough to invade Rotten Tree, where they successfully drive out General Brunson's wasp outpost. With the path to Bird Feeder secure, the Black Ant Colony continues to thrive.
300 - The old man who maintained Bird Feeder passes away, forcing Queen Liza to look towards other avenues for food. She begins sending scouts to get intel on Old House.
301 - The scouts return and report that Old House is still occupied, but food is plentiful and left behind by sloppy koopas. The Black Ant Colony begins raiding Old House, but whispers among the royal caste create rumors of Queen Aliza's failing health.
303 - Queen Liza passes away. Sirs Royland, Bernanham, and Hyphus sacrifice themselves to place Queen Kayla into power.
305 - Jack the Oogpister Beetle invades the Black Ant Colony, creating countless victims. Queen Kayla orders a special unit to collapse a tunnel on him so her soldiers can finish the job. The colony is devastated, but it lives on.
310 - The Black Ant Colony's 125th Scavenger Squad is spotted and annihilated by koopas in Old House. Queen Kayla sends scouts to explore past Flower Bed for a new source of food.
311 - Past Flower Bed, the Black Ant Colony faces a harsh reality: a Red Ant Colony existed in the area and its square of influence was rapidly approaching that of the Black Ant Colony's.
314 - Garry the Tarantula, a frequent murderer of scouts to both colonies, is found dead in Flower Bed. Queen Kayla orders her foragers to bring Garry's body back, but during the process, her foragers are attacked and killed by Red Ant Soldiers.
315 - Winged Black and Red Ants exchange talks about the incident. The Red Ants express no remorse for their actions claiming Flower Bed belongs to them. Resistant to the idea of her territory being challenged, Queen Kayla declares war on the Red Ant Colony, a move that Red Queen Diana gladly initiates as well.
317 - Queen Kayla passes away, leaving her rule to Queen Julia, an upcoming militaristic virgin queen who had her eyes set on the Red Ant Colony for the past three years.
321 - The Black and Red Ant Colonies engages in various skirmishes across Flower Bed, neither side yielding to the other. Queen Diana orders a sizable portion of her forces to invade Old House in order to surprise attack the Black Ant Colony, but they are met with unexpected resistance by the koopas living inside.
322 - Their numbers dwindling, the Red Ant Army faced losing Flower Bed, and eventually much more. Queen Diana receives a report from one of her winged scouts and immediately orders a complete withdrawal from Flower Bed.
The Black Ant Colony takes Flower Bed and roars Queen Julia's name with pride, but the victory is short lived. The Great Snake is spotted approaching Flower Bed, its head carried by its Koopa master. Relentlessly, the Great Snake wiped the Black Ant Army away, a torrent of its waters clashing against the battlefield. Neither army laid claim to Flower Bed again.
324 - Queen Diana orders an invasion of Old Tree, confident that her forces outnumber the Black Ant Colony after the brutal onslaught of Flower Bed. The Black Ant Outpost is destroyed and the Red Ant Army looms threateningly above the Black Ant Colony.
326 - Queen Diana passes away, allowing the virgin Red Queen Sammi to take power and promise the extinction of the Black Ant Colony.
328 - Queen Sammi's forces at Old Tree are wiped out when a Saiyan practices his technique on it, vaporizing it with his ki.
335 - The leadership to both colonies change as they maintain skirmishes across Old Stump, neither side yielding to the other. The age of great leaders for both colonies had passed as little had changed for them for past several years.
337 - Apple Kid moves to Mongrelia, his messy house drawing the attention of both ant colonies.
Present Day - Prophesized to be reincarnated once every 100 years, Yellow Ant descends on Mongrelia near Apple Kid's house to bring peace between the Black and Red Ants. Sometimes it engages in peace treaties, sometimes it merely joins one side to defeat the other.
Sights
See the world from below! Watch the romantic clash of hexapedal arthropods in their native environment! Run from spiders! Be a part of nature's gift to the cleft.
Travel
A newly established form of travel, scientists insist the that the changing of one's size is perfectly safe. Never mind the adjusting of one's DNA at the molecular level. Though, anything that happens afterwards is the user's responsibility!
Law, Government, and Politics
In the world of ants, the queen's word is law. And with over 9000 other ants at her disposal, you have little say in anything. Politics can be quite fierce, often resulting in territorial war caused by the difference in one's color.
The only way to achieve rank and power is to be born with it. Males can never achieve anything with their lives since their purpose is to inseminate virgin queens, their lives ending shortly after their genitalia explodes. Some females are born as virgin queens and are given the chance to rise up in rank during their nuptial flight, at which point they establish a new colony of their own. Most ants are born into the soldier or worker caste, meaning their entire lives are spent serving the hive through collecting food, tending to larvae, digging tunnels, or fighting for the colony's color.
Positions of power can last up to 20 years, the potential lifespan of an ant queen.
Quests
A suave antlion began to build its trap one day as it imagined going on an epic quest across Mongrelia to gain these achievements:
- Gotten the red ant badge?
- Gotten the black ant badge?
- Angered both anthills and then had them forget you?
- Found the regrowifier?
The Great Explorer Luigi Says
"It's-a gross, but Bug Meat is a-common find when fighting bugs. It helps in-a pinch and can restore some strength. Some bugs are aggressive and attack in groups, so be-a careful!"
