Area of the Month for Janurary 2019 is Eldin Mountain!

Descriptions: X/10

How does the area's room descriptions(descs) work for you? Do they give you a good idea of the area? Do things that stand out in the desc and NEED explanation GET that, either from flavor text(extra-descs) or NPCs in the room or anything?

What about mobiles(mobs) and their descriptions? Can you get a decent mental image of who or what this NPC/monster is? Do they respond when you talk or interact with them?

Some areas have interact-able objects like fountains. Do they stack up well also?

If this area has combat, how does it feel? Does anything jump as horribly overpowered and impossible to deal with? What about the flipside, anything far too easy to beat?

Why would you suggest someone come to this area? Is it just a good place to grind experience(lots of mobs)? Does the area provide a chunk of good gold and loot?

What about the quests? Does this area's quests feel properly done, or is there some part of it that you feel needs work?

Player: Daigotsu (Gladiator, L54, ~0 remorts)

Descriptions : 9/10 - The mines feel dark and foreboding, the mountain feels open and treacherous and the Death Mountain crater feels on fire. You feel immersed in the zone whenever you are wandering around. The boulders while infuriating at times bring back memories of climbing death mountain in a Link to the past. I feel that moving around the caves was well explained when I got lost down an elevator chute I was able to view the environment and get myself out. The quests I have completed are straightforward and easily navigated.


Balance: 7/10 I was a bit over leveled for the tekties and miniblins when I went, but the miniblin fight for one of the quests was still rough even being a few levels over 50 when I did it, I feel like it may be overtuned, but the quest reward may warrant it.I will say I was not prepared for the fights in the crater when I first entered. I feel with both the fire from the crater damaging you and the amount of damage the enemies can dish out it may be a bit over tuned for a first time adventurer. Even with some fire resist the damage is quite high. When you get a fire keese and dodongo in the same room it can get brutal very quickly and with no easy place to rest it can be very difficult to try and get to a safe spot to rest with low health.

Attractions: 7/10 - I did not level here at level, but I feel like the mines and the mountains were full enough to be able to level with. I will say though tekties and boulders would have been terrible at the same time. Death Mountain Crater seems to be an excellent place for experience, but I am not sure the ease of survival would warrant me leveling there in the mid 50s. It is quite easy to die there unless you have some serious fire resist. The quests I have completed were good, but as a warrior I felt underwhelmed with the reward, but it was fun

Connections: 9/10 Getting to Eldin was fairly easy using the Atlas, it makes sense to connect from a field into the mountains and then back down to the lake Lasacul. It feels fairly isolated which a mountain should, with only a few paths into and out of.

Personal Exploring Eldin Mountain was a lot of fun, I didn't even mean to do one of the quests and I kind of lucked into doing it. Finding the crater was a lot of fun and I really wanted to stop the boulders because they drive me slightly crazy but I do not think my character is suited to being able to do the zone right now. Overall a lot of fun.
