Memories, Part 1
Hidden Maverick Base
June 1 of the year 322
Gnome's Day
Jedo is cleaning up around his blasted lab, picking stuff up and
putting other stuff away. He lifts up a piece of wall that had
fallen recently and spots the box that started his current path
in life.
"Well now, this brings back memories..."
>Insert corny fade-into-memory blur here.<
"Alright, Drak. We should split up here, I'll take the left
path, you take the right one."
Jedo and Drakon split up from their path, Jedo heading left and Drakon headed down the right path. Jedo goes around, under, and over plant life without making a sound, and even though nothing hostile is supposed to be around, he is on guard. After an uneventful trot through the woods, Jedo stops dead in his tracks.
"What the...?"
Jedo notices the forest floor become concrete a little ways off
of the path and heads in that direction. Upon reaching the
walkway, Jedo spots what it leads up to... an abandoned,
blasted building. Ivy and other plant life cover the building
from top to bottom, showing the walls in only a few spots.
Jeez, this place must be ancient! It looks to have been abandoned for years...
Slowly, Jedo makes his way toward the building and notices the
gaping hole in the wall where the door might have been. He
looks to the wall around the opening and sees no defense system,
so he heads in but keeps his guard for any unseen security
systems.
Wow, this place IS ancient... Looks like an old Maverick Hunter headquarters...
The place is a mess. Piles of rubble have been deposited on the
floor, and the walls are more or less... patches of wall held
up by the ivy. Nothing sentient is present so Jedo relaxes his
guard and begins searching through the place. He remembers his
friend Drakon and sends a message over their personal radio.
"Drak! Come quick, I've found an abandoned laboratory or
something! Get over here and check it out, you can't miss it."
Jedo begins turning over pieces of wall and other maimed debris.
He lifts up a large slab of ceiling, and finds a box... it's
not crushed or damaged, so he picks it up to get a better look.
The box is really a titanium frame with panes of energy
containing something unseen within... however, whatever it is,
its glowing, fading from red to gold to green and back again.
Drak had better get here soon, we've got to find out what this is. . .
