98 Xeed |

Age: Forgotten |
Race: Vampire |
Status: Undead |
Affiliation: None |
A vampire who came to the Cleft in recent years, brought forth by a rift in her home world. She is presently without a permanent home, but has been stalking the streets of Viorar at night seeking out human prey to sate her thirsts. She introduces herself as Xeed, a clan or family name of some sort - but Nine to her friends. Xeed seems to be a specific clan of vampires - she has not yet revealed much of it. Her numerical first name seems to refer to her status as a successor to it.
She has forgotten exactly how old she is - from her looks, she was likely a young adult when she met her end as a living human. She likewise doesn't remember how long ago that death was - time seems to lose relevance when you're no longer on the clock.
In her home world, she lived a secluded unlife with her girlfriend, a human dollmage by the name of Merciviant Laplace. The two were seemingly inseparable, with Merciviant (who she called Merci, and who likewise called her Ninety), yet that eventually proved false - the two had a particularly nasty fight that started with an argument about the way Merciviant was to proceed with her next creation, something that could cost her her life - and they parted on far less than friendly terms. They were still in the same general region however, and thus it is for that reason that 98 believes Merci to be in the Cleft as well. Currently, her goal is to track her down and speak to her again - even if it's just to make sure she's still alive. She has various conflicting feelings towards her former love, but for now, she simply searches.
98 has a heavy bias against humans due to several factors - the abuse she suffered from them in life and beyond death, the constant aggression by them against her monster friends, and just generally finding them exhausting to deal with. "Hate" may be very slightly too strong a word to describe her feelings towards them - it is more heavy exasperation and a lack of patience for them. She does have a tendency to see them more as food than anything, often referring to them as "stock". Merciviant being one of the only humans to not cause any of these negative feelings in her was one of the reasons she bonded with and fell for her.
She is like a completely different person depending on who she is speaking to - with non human beings, she is open and friendly, making it a point to be polite and considerate as well as being direct about her feelings and at times a shameless flirt. With humans, she is often much more curt and prone to giving them nicknames related to food - the type of food she nicknames them with might be a hint on her opinion of that individual. Despite her tendency towards belligerence with them, she generally does not pick fights - but she will quickly and violently respond to challenges or threats with a combination of deadly magic and vicious strikes from her weapon, Ichor.
Ichor
98's weapon is a macabre thing, a transformative weapon that appears to be crafted from human bones - mostly spinal parts. It is a semi-sentient familiar of sorts - it doesn't have a sense of self as such, but something more like programming. It can shift in shape to be a knife, sword, claw or most commonly a whip for its owner's use. It is linked with 98's thoughts, and as such able to coordinate its movements with her own intentions for attacks, leading to deadly accurate blows. While 98 herself is more a spellcaster than a fighter, it would to her be a waste to let a vampire's strength and reflexes go unused and thus frequently incorporates physical attacks with Ichor into her strategies. Ichor can sense whether or not someone touching it has permission to do so thanks to its connection with 98 - anyone who isn't meant to have it will find their hand skewered by bony retractable barbs from the entirety of the weapon on picking it up.
Blood Magic
98 practices and uses a type of blood magic that she adapted from existing schools - using her own undead blood as a catalyst, she has a variety of spells at her disposal for many different situations. She prefers offensive ones that make use of the elemental attributes her enemies are vulnerable to, but has picked up a number of supportive spells as well that could enhance the physical abilities and resistances of herself or her allies. As these spells use her blood as well as her mana as payment, she tends to get thirstier faster than most vampires - especially since she doesn't have a willing donor anymore.
