Cooper is a raccoon, so hide your things. Also be sure to check your inventory frequently for unwanted orbs of light.
Strange as it is, Cooper is something of a manifestation more than a typical Immortal, a creature that was born from the power of Benamas. The exact details aren't readily available, and it's not currently known if Cooper's creation was an intentional act by the Ancient Mariner or not.
