Rabite Forest

January 7 of the year 323

Salamando's Day

This moss is great. It's very thick, and spongy, and I bet it likes it in this dark, damp place. Hope it doesn't mind me crouching on it. I doubt it. No one hangs out here anyway... well, at least I hope that.

I've made what may turn out to be a very bad mistake. Although I'm not sure what will come of it, I only did it for my best interests. I swear, it was only to make some money. Some people, when they just lunge for the bait, you have to reel them in a bit. From the wealthy to the needy, right? Nothing for a lit... -crud! Finish that thought later!

Harrowing experience. It's hard to see my hand in front of my face, it's so dark; but my nerves are wracked and my mind needs reprieve. I'm in what's called Rabite Forest. That yellow thing that won't get out of my sleeping bag is a rabite. That's another reason I can't sleep.

Anyway, Rich has been chasing me around all day. When he found out I didn't sell him real Encyclopedia Cleftanica books, just some blank sheets of paper I glued into a binder, he never let up. I needed - still do - the money, and I couldn't refund him. But they call him Rich for a reason, right? It should have been okay.

...well, except that it wasn't just Rich. I sold those phony books to a bunch of people in Truce, and there's kinda been this mob chasing me. One of them said she was going to "weebo roast" me, whatever that means. I don't really want to know. They made entirely too big of a deal over it... chasing me all over for three days... I had to climb over the city wall to get out of there.

End result: I have a small pile of gold and I'm making trails out of here tomorrow morning. I'd read my geology field guide to get me to sleep, but it got incinerated in an "accident." Yeah, I hate monsters. Did I mention it's really dark?
