No one really knows why they are called the McNeil Woods. Perhaps they were named after the first person who discovered them in Fa'Diel. Or perhaps there is a different meaning.
How do magical slimes, birds, floating spiked heads that can be assumed to be birds, humanoids, actual humans, and goblins survive in the same space? Come find out!
Many creatures make their home in these woods, odd breeds of animals, monsters, and humans alike. While most of the forests inhabitants are fairly docile, the goblins are territorial and irritable. They are well known for attacking those who may brave McNeil's trails, so well known, in fact, that less-formidable would-be adventurers steer clear of the the woods completely. They seem to centralize themselves next to a hut just southeast of Mabe Village's entrance.
The humanoids found in the Woods are a fairly eclectic lot as well, though they are easily out numbered by the goblins and the other denizens of the forest, which include slimes, rippers, and gongheads. If one should go looking for them, they should tread carefully lest they find themselves another victim of the goblin horde.
Law, Government, and Politics
McNeil Woods lies in Fa'Diel territory, but the local goblin horde would likely proclaim otherwise.
Many budding adventurers have taken the next step forward in their lives by conquering the dangers of these woods and learning how to use those skills in the future. Along the way, a helpful Matango may ask of you:
- Have you taken care of some kids? - Did you lend a woodsman your ears?
The Great Explorer Luigi Says
"Luigi sees many-a venturer lose their mushrooms to-a group of angry goblins, he makes-a sure to SCAN his surroundings before moving-a forward. It's-a dangerous place to be at night, because-a Luigi cannot SCAN for-a goblins in the dark. He spends-the night eating from-a tasty green apple tree and refilling his water from-a creek. Aero and Quake Materia from-a Cosmo Canyon came in handy against the rippers and gongheads for-a Luigi.
