Terror of the Mavericks

The story of the Maverick Reploid Raiders who raged across the Cleft unchecked for 140 years before they disappeared during the Forgotten Year.

Year 180

• A group of reploids, calling themselves Mavericks are gathered by one named Sigma.
  • Though most of the details about their exploits are lost, what is known is that they targeted non-reploid settlements to raid, pillage, and put to the torch.

Year 290

• After over a hundred years of terrorizing the people of the Cleft, the Maverick leader, Sigma, is destroyed during a raid on Rocket Town.
• That same year, the reploid Jedo would find the remains of the Maverick Virus in an abandoned building and would be infected.
  • Jedo would assume leadership of the Mavericks, forcing all others to serve him.

Year 320

• Jedo and his Mavericks continue oppressing, terrorizing, and slaying the non-reploids of the Cleft for another thirty years.
  • Reploids they managed to capture were either infected with the virus, or slaughtered for rejecting Jedo's gift.
• The reploid Rockman X rises up and determines that he would do everything he could to stop the Mavericks.
• The Maverick Hunters form, but under the leadership of the reploid Signas, since Rockman wanted to remain unfettered with administrative duties while hunting the Mavericks.

Year 323

• A Maverick, Saneron, breaks away from the slaughtering and raiding to form his own little group he called the Chosen.
  • Saneron was driven insane by the Virus and is mostly harmless, concerned more with celestial dragons, pie, and boots than killing all non-reploids.
  • The Chosen draft a set of laws and try to enforce them in the town of Truce.
    • The Chosen are mostly ignored.
• The reploid Seikou appears in the Cleft and joins the Maverick Hunters, carrying with him a dormant strain of the Maverick Virus.

Year 325

• Most of the Mavericks, including Jedo and Saneron, are discovered missing after the Forgotten Year Event.
  • The Maverick Hunters are quick to claim the Maverick disappearance as a victory and declare the Virus contained.
    • The only Maverick on record to still exist in the Cleft after the Forgotten Year was Vice, and he was overlooked in the Hunters rush to claim their victory.
  • With Saneron, and their other reploid member, Pears, gone, the Chosen disband.
• After Vice encounters Seikou, activating the virus in him became the Maverick's singular focus.
  • Massacres Cosmo Canyon and frames the reploid Aura.
  • Attacks and prods Seikou at every opportunity.
  • When attacking fails to work, he kidnaps Seikou and convinces him that he had killed the reploid Variance.
    • Seikou would give up and let the virus take over after he thought Variance was dead and Aura a killer.
• Seikou and Vice attack Truce, going after Variance and Aura specifically.
  • Aura and Variance help Seikou overcome the virus and contain it once more.
    • It is unclear what happened to Vice.
